Case Study
GRP Fish Tables for Modern Fish Markets Across the UAE
Fish markets operate in demanding environments. Continuous washing, heavy loads, salt exposure, and outdoor weather conditions can quickly damage traditional display tables. Maintaining hygiene, durability, and structural strength is essential for daily operations.
This case study outlines the successful manufacturing and supply of custom GRP Fish Tables for Souq Al Jubail – Sharjah, along with various fish markets in Ajman and Dubai.
Project Overview
Project details:
- Project Name: Souq Al Jubail – Sharjah, and various fish markets in Ajman and Dubai
- Project Location: Various locations across the UAE
- Project Duration: 45 to 60 days
- Scope of Work: Manufacturing and supply of rectangular-shaped GRP fish tables
The objective was to deliver durable, water-resistant, and hygienic fish tables suitable for auction areas, retail shops, and coastal market environments.
Product and Application
GRP Fish Tables are used for:
- Keeping and displaying fish
- Public retail sales
- Auctioning in fish souqs
- Temporary storage during fish transfer
Most tables were manufactured in rectangular shapes, with certain models including partition sections for organized display. Some units were stationary, while others were fitted with wheels to allow easy internal movement.
These tables were supplied for:
- Fish markets
- Retail fish shops
- Auction souqs
- Fish transfer areas near seashores
Due to constant exposure to water and salt, the material needed to provide long-term resistance without corrosion or deterioration.
The primary requirements included:
The primary requirements included:
- High resistance to water and salt corrosion
- Durability under outdoor conditions and direct sunlight
- Strong load-bearing capacity for stored fish
- Hygienic, easy-to-clean surface
- Long service life with minimal maintenance
The tables had to perform reliably in high-moisture environments while maintaining structural integrity and appearance.
Customization and Manufacturing
All GRP fish tables were fabricated according to drawings issued by the Operations Department and approved client designs.
One project required special customization to match the circular internal layout of the auction area at Souq Al Jubail – Sharjah. The tables were designed with equal divisions to align with the circular configuration of the space.
Customization included:
- Rectangular and partitioned layouts
- Circular arrangement design
- Reinforced base structure
- Wheel assemblies for mobile units
Manufacturing involved detailed pattern and mould preparation to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural consistency across all units.
Major Challenges and Solutions
The main challenges included aligning the tables with the circular auction layout, ensuring adequate structural reinforcement for heavy fish loads, managing continuous water drainage, and selecting durable wheel assemblies suitable for saltwater conditions.
These were addressed through precise mould preparation, reinforced base and leg construction, proper slope design for smooth drainage, and the use of corrosion-resistant wheel assemblies for mobile units.
Installation Scope
Installation was not included in the project scope. The GRP fish tables were supplied as finished products and positioned by the market operations team after delivery.
Results and Conclusion
The project was completed within the planned 45 to 60-day timeframe. All GRP fish tables met the required structural, durability, and hygiene standards for demanding market environments.
This case study highlights the effectiveness of custom GRP Fish Tables as a durable, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant solution for modern fish markets.
